Paul is a UK Chartered Accountant and German Wirtschaftsprüfer.
Armed with a BA in German from Exeter University, he qualified in London in
1979, then spent 3 years in Munich, one year in Istanbul, and has since worked
for KPMG (formerly Peat Marwick) in Frankfurt, Germany, since 1992 as director.
At the end of November, 2015 he will be retiring.


Paul specializes in dealing with German subsidiaries of foreign corporations,
mainly audits but also investigations, due diligence, advisory etc. Clients are
in all kinds of industries, covering manufacturing, consumer markets,
electronics, software, real estate, pharmaceuticals, security services,
hotels, beverages and general trading and services. They come from a
variety of countries, including USA, UK, Japan, Italy, Spain, France and
The Netherlands. This means dealing with several different accounting
regimes, especially IFRS and US GAAP as well as local German GAAP.
His experience gives him a unique opportunity to ensure all sides
understand each other. Part of his activities involves providing English
translations of German language reports and correspondence.To a large
extent, this covers translations of German audit reports, whereby his
knowledge of the various accounting regimes and their vocabulary is invaluable.

Debbie earned a BA in German and history before coming to Germany from the US to complete an MA in German at Mainz University. She has taught English at all levels in adult education classes and individually coached adults and high school students. During the last 18 years she has translated a wide range of texts for books and journals.  

As D C Hubbard, Debbie also writes fiction. Her début novel, The Peace Bridge, was published in 2012, and she is working on a prequel. She writes short fiction in both English and German. Samples of these can be read on her website:  


She is currently  translating stories into German for an anthology on families for which she is not only a contributor but also a co-editor.
